Cassia—Oil of Self-Acceptance

Have you ever known someone who shines brightly, but doesn't see his or her own brilliance? Cassia (Cinnamonum cassia), a close relative of cinnamon, may be the answer. It is the Oil of Self-Assurance and invites us to let our light shine and live from our True Selves., Bringing gladness and courage to heart and soul.

One of the few essential oils mentioned in the Old Testament and noted for its unmistakable fragrance and calming aromatic properties, cassia is a spicy uplift to any diffuser blend, but only a drop--it can be irritating to mucosal membranes in larger quantities. It is a very warm spicy oil, so if using on the skin it must be well diluted with a carrier oil.

My favorite way to use cassia is in food. It can be added in place of cinnamon as it's very like cinnamon but more spicy and less sweet. I've added it to coffee, put a drop in a dip for berries with wild orange, maple and mascarpone, and into several baked goods.
