Lemon—Focus

Lemon oil is another of my daily use oils. Pressed from Sicilian lemon peels, the oil catches the floral notes of the lemon without being acidic. It's delicious to put a drop or two in water and receive the tonifying, cleansing benefits of lemon throughout the day. Be sure to use glass or stainless steel as the oil will break down plastic. It's actually amazing for getting anything sticky or greasy cleaned up: sticker residue on new windows, pine pitch on hands, bike chain grease on your leg, etc. Do be careful using it on skin as it's photosensitive, so will intensify the burning power of the sun.

Lemon is also the Oil of Focus. It's helps us be mentally present by focusing on one thing at a time. It restores mental energy and flexibility. It's particularly helpful for those who struggle with being in school, helping them concentrate and clear any self-judgment about their learning ability.

As with all the citrus oils it adds a joyful zing to any diffuser blend. I love blending it with frankincense and peppermint for a joyful and motivating effect. If I need laser sharp focus: lemon and rosemary go in the diffuser. It is a key ingredient (along with yesterday's oil, lavender) in dōTERRA's TriEase supplent for seasonal discomfort.

Lemon is also delicious in sweet and savory dishes. I've used it in cupcake frosting, salad dressing, and marinade for salmon as well as in water, seltzer and cocktails.
